I actually won!

This has been a BIG week for me!I’ve never won an award before… in my life! Never! Not even at school!

Yes, I won!

My photoblog is the Best SA Photographic Blog for 2008. How cool is that!!

I went to the SA Blog Awards ceremony in Cape Town last night. Let me say… the UCT Tennis Club is almost impossible to find, it took me almost 20 minutes of driving around the campus to find it… not even the students that I asked knew how to find it! But it was worth the effort! It was so interesting to meet the other bloggers… it’s always fascinating meeting people that you’ve been chatting with online. I now have a lot more blogs to read! I’m so glad I went. Not only because of my award, but it was so exciting when a blog that I’d voted for was a winner too!

And do you know what I won? A bottle of Warwick wine, and an indigenous tree! Yip, a tree! Which would be great if I lived in Cape Town, but LOL, it’s going to be very interesting getting the tree on the plane to go home on Friday evening!

I’ve never left the boys for more than 2 nights, and it’s taking it’s toll on me today. I’m missing them and Lance so much!

However, I love being in Cape Town. It’s such a beautiful city. I’m having a ball taking my colleagues to the sights after we finish working in the evenings. 2 of my colleagues have really never seen the city, so I’m taking them to all my favourite spots. I love showing people things that they’ve never seen before. I love the look of wonder on their faces when they see Cape Town from a high point for the first time. Yesterday evening I took them to Signal Hill (some of the photos are on my photoblog), and this evening we’re planning on going to Hout Bay and then on to dinner at one of the wonderful spots in Camps Bay overlooking the sea on the way back to Sea Point.

And lastly, the Zimbabwe election results are simply incredible! I can’t believe that the MDC got the majority vote!! At last. I’m stoked… utterly stoked! I really hope that this is the beginning of the rebuilding of the country I was born in. I also hope that Mugabe will step down… I somehow doubt it… and I’m sure there are going to be problems with the military too… but still… I live in hope!

Congrats then on your first ever award! Wonderful stuff!

But now a question… everyone won an indigenous tree… but the question is, what kind of a tree did we all get???

  • Kathy

    So, so proud of you.

Wow. Congratulation! Really happy for you.

And the wine and the tree … quite unusual prize. But still, they must be great!

Hope you took some shots before finishing the wine, and planting the tree. :)

I’m glad you are having a good time Jeanette! When I received your sms last night I was so happy for you. I wanted to pop open the champagne straight away but I think I’ll bring it through to bookclub tomorrow evening and we’ll do it there :)
    Congratulations!

BTW I am also so happy to hear the results about Zimbabwe. Maybe we can show our children where we were born one day, how awesome would that be?

I can’t believe they didn’t tell you what kind of tree it was. (And here I was thinking they were some kind of weird attempt at Decor.)

And your pics of Slaapstad are stunning. I forget sometimes.
