More hair dilemmas

So, you know my hairloss story… it hasn’t changed :)

My dermatologists appointment is on Tuesday.

In the meantime, I’ve been considering my hairstyle again.

I hate it!  I look like a frump.  I cannot get my hair straight even after using a straightening iron forever.  And if I do get it straight, its all fluffy and crap within an hour anyway, so what’s the point.

Lance thinks I should go short again, and so does Madi.

The thing is, it’s a age thing.  I know I know, it’s all in my mind.

I’m not getting any younger, and the only people that have short hair are older people.  And I don’t want that yet.  Even my hairdressers lately have said that only older women have short hair.  I don’t want to surrender to the idea that I’m getting old.  As it is, that’s the major factor for me not giving up my job and doing photography (I have yet to see an older successful female photographer)

I’m close to 40 you know! I’m on the downward side of 35 now… it’s closing in quickly.

But then, I saw this photo today on Kat‘s blog. MY GOD, how stunning is that haircut on the makeup artist!!

And then I’m tempted all over again.

I think that hairstyle is STUNNING Jen and I think it would look great on you! I’d say go for it!

Lies! It’s not for older chickeroos! I spent most of my childhood with short hair ;)

Actually, I normally cut it short once a year now anyway because it always starts irritating me with the way it keeps flying into my mouth and what not. Only reason I haven’t this year is because I’m determined to have really really long hair at some point in my life.

Hehe I’ve had short hair for most of my life too… part of the problem is that this is THE last time I’ll grow it… so once it’s cut, that’s it!

I say go for it. do what makes you happy. My mom is almost 60 and has long hair. My hair is shorter than it has been in 23 years. life is too short to worry about what other people think. make yourself happy. ♥

I’ve been feeling that my hair is thinning lately, too.. Actually going to doctor tomorrow to get some answers.

    AGING! ARGH!

You’ll look stunning with that cut!!

Oh gosh – this is a much easier decision than deciding whether to buy a car or not (like your sister!!) Short doesn’t have to be ‘old’!!! (as in photo!)
Sooo it’s not a good idea for me to grow mine out a bit (which I’m doing now – and a few years ago I said NEVER again .. but here I go again) .. I’m too old!! I heard the other day that taking zinc regularly helps hair growth – keep meaning to tell you. (Boosts immune system too)

You are not too old to have short hair. I have a friend who is nearer my age and she has a ‘crew’ cut and bleached silver she looks gorgeous!!! I am growing my hair too but I am on the down side of 55!!!!!!!!! You are still very young. You have always looked stunning with short hair.

I think short hair suits you, and that is a stunning style!

i agree – i think you carry off short hair very well. and that pic is gorgeous, i think it would suit you.

I know EXACTLY how you feel! And I’m on the downward spiral to 50! I am at a loss with my hair. A friend went for hair extensions (proper ones that cost an arm and a leg!) and she says I should give it a try! I must be honest, I am thinking about it – they put a row or two in for volume, and just a little length. Her’s looks divine – you see, if I had to cut my hair like that stylist, it would be flat as a pancake in thirty seconds. I really only have 3 hairs on my head! :)

Lots of older woman wear their hair long these days – its how you wear it that counts so to think that once you hit 40 you cant do long hair is an absolute fallacy!

That hairstyle is stunning BUT you need to go huge with colour to funk it up and be aware you wont wake up looking like that….there is serious styling and product and straightening to get that look!

I think you should go for it….it will help you feel so much better about yourself and you CAN grow your hair later in life – really!!

you don’t have to go short short, you could have that “almost growing out effortlessly stlylish” short hair. or a just under the chin bob. SUPER cute. also, hair does grow and maybe it’ll grow back thicker?

Please let me know what the dermathologist said and you are always welcome to give me a call. I’ve been there, done that…

On long and short hair – I am someone who grows every so often and cute short without thinking much. Currently I am growing – it must have something to do with being in my 40′s – I somehow feel that I really really want to. But shome short hair styles are great (as the one you have pointed out) and it might be much more manaigable with the hair loss – I also cut my hair short at the time.

Good luck with the new job!

I don’t like that hairstyle too much, I think short hair will definitely suit you and bring out your eyes more but more of a pixie cut. Short hair does not mean old, it just depends what suits you, I have really long hair but if I wear one of my wigs which is short I look much younger, so who knows I bet you cut your hair and people will think you’re younger!

Also since your hair is thinning, maybe buy a couple wigs for days that you feel self conscious etc, wigs really are awesome, you get to change your appearance completely with no permanent effects, and the right ones look quite real, you dont have to buy the expensive ones for over a grand, I have spent R500 and R 300 respectively (the R300 I went to the factory where they manufacture them and bought it direct)

That hairstyle is gorgeous! Make sure you have the right hair type etc for that style though… With my curly and frizzy hair, I wouldn’t go short because for me it’s a little too unmanagable for my daily routine. xx

Short hair has nothing to do with age!!! It’s what you personally feel comfortable with. Make your own decision and don’t worry what other people think! You are your OWN person with a strong confident personality so whatever hair length you decide to have will make your OWN statement!!!!.

    cut it!

Short hair really suits you and you would would lovely with that hairstyle.

Good luck with the new job.
