not only that….what about all the expats that would normally come back to SA during that time but can’t because international air fares have DOUBLED and a flight to Cape Town will cost in the region of R10 000!!! I’m soooo not into this world cup either!!!

I couldn’t be arsed about the world cup – all it means to me is crapper than usual traffic. I think Nicola’s school stays open for it, but I better check!

I’m still trying to get my head around why the whole country’s schools has to be closed for the whole duration of the world cup. We’ve just come out of the Winter Olympics (granted only two weeks , but two weeks that saw events from 9am until late night and only the universities/colleges had their spring break (to allow students to volunteer at the Games). They changed the schools’ spring break to coincide with the Paraympic Games starting this weekend. You are sitting with a sporting event hosted in a couple of cities and even then, the host cities have a couple of matches each, stretched out over the six weeks… Keep the normal winter vacation and close the schools in the affected areas on the affected days – I think that would have been a lot more sensible.

I am thankful Logan isn’t in primary school yet! I don’t think I would be able to spend 6 full weeks entertaining the kid! Does that make me sound terrible?

For us, I guess it’s business as usual. I’m also really not looking forward to the whole spiel, though. The only ones benefitting from the World Cup are Fifa and the ANC, while the citizens of South Africa get shafted left, right and centre.

I say boycott the whole bloody thing!

This has caused me many sleepless nights since I heard about it!

My plan is to get my mom to watch them a week, I will take a week and their dad will take a week and I will then max my credit card out on holiday care for the rest – because the pamphlet I go the other day is offering holiday care at R100 per DAY per CHILD! And we all know how reliable their father is!

I actually cant really understand their reasoning to be honest! Maybe we all need to organise little play dates amongst ourselves!!!
