I finally did it… after threatening for the last 6 months… I actually started my admin on my photography business.
Mostly spurred on by the fact that I need to get my ducks in a row for the taxman… but at least it’s started.
And Oh My it’s scary!!
I had NO idea how much I’d spent in the last year on my little photography lark. It’s no small fry.
What I’m still finishing… and that’s more strenuous because of the way I’ve recorded it… is my income from it.
I’m almost positive I made a loss last year, based on the enormity of my expenses… but I’m sure that this year is a better, more rosy picture.
And I promise to set aside one night a week for this in future!!

I so hate doing admin. I have a lovely little (big) box and every slip, note etc. gets thrown in there, hmm perhaps I should follow and set aside some time to sort it out:)

Have you tried “Billings” software for Mac? It's what I use for my graphic design business (and the occasional photography client. It's super easy to use, and generates all the reports you'd need for tax purposes, and of course it produces awesome looking invoices and statements etc for your clients, even prompting you to 'resend' if they become overdue. Also, at only $39.99 it's a total bargain compared to other packages. It also has a matching 'APP' for iPhone/iPodTouch that allows you to invoice 'on the go' etc. I actually find admin FUN because of it.
