Sickness and pain

We’ve had a few good months with Connor, but we’re back on antibiotics

I thought he was fine until yesterday.  The head teacher at his school phoned me to collect him because he had a fever.  I took him home, gave him mootie and the fever disappeared.  It reappeared in the evening… and was ongoing through the night… alternating between temperature below 35deg and then going to 38.

It’s been fun… I had about 3 hours sleep last night I think.

He’s got sinu-bronchitis again.  I’m glad it’s not pneumonia, which was my fear.

I’m grumpy… and sore.  I’m also not a happy camper… my back is still sore.  It’s not my kidneys acccording to the doctor, he thinks I’ve hurt a nerve in my lower back.  So I went for x-rays today, and I get the full report tomorrow.  Until then I have cataflam, and I’ve been told not to sit too long in the same position… PMSL… you tell that to the traffic!! My back is in agony by the time I get to work in the mornings, and today the pain only dissipated at about lunch time.

I’m grumpy and need sleep.  Editing will have to wait until tomorrow night.

When I stress, it goes to the small of my back. I once had days of physio because I could hardly move anymore, and the only explanation at the time was stress!
I hope Connor's all better soon.

Poor Conner and poor you. If it is any consolation – you are not alone. C and L was at the doctor – L now has a huge post nasal drip and all that goes with it and C (after two courses of anti biotics) now has an asthma flare up. Last night was epic between the two of them.

Ach shame guys. It sucks to be sick and in pain.
About your back; I have no idea if it will help; but you can just try it and see. I've suffered with lower back pain for years and years and this helps me.
While you are sitting, think about contracting your core muscles. The ones in your back are activated by (and this is gross, sorry!) tightening your anal sphincter. The ones round the front are the activated by the same muscles that stop you from weeing. If you place your fingers on your stomach, just next to your hip bones, those muscles should be tight.
By tightening these muscles, you support the vertebrae in your back; and especially prevents your lower back from collapsing. It's a good habit to get into, especially for people who sit a lot, whether in traffic or at a desk.
But if it causes you more pain don't do it. Speak to your doctor!

So sorry that Connor is not well and that you are in agony with your back. I do agree with Tara about your core muscles it is so important to activate them. Thinking of you and hope you both get better soon
