Well, today’s weather was just magnificent!! So we spent the day on St Michaels beach, and then went to Ramsgate this afternoon for waffles at The Waffle House.  And this morning, I didn’t take my camera because we knew it was going to be hectically busy on the beach… and I oh so regretted that decision!! There were such incredible photo opps today with Lifeguards being trained, a sangoma ritual on the beach and I took the kids on the pedal boats on the lagoon! Thankfully my iPhone is ok… but I would have LOVED my zoom lens today!

I also bought a wooden bowl made by this fellow who was peddling his stuff on the beach.  He lives in Zimbabwe, and makes them there.  He comes via bus every few months for a month…. with his bowls in boxes.  He said he was going back at the beginning of May, and he’s done well this time… he only has 40 bowls left to sell.  Our chat made me wonder how many bowls he brought down, and how much it must cost him for the trip from Mutare to JHB and then JHB to Margate.

Then this afternoon after having waffles at The Waffle House, we wandered to Ramsgate beach… to see what it was like… wow there were a lot of hawkers on the beach and this guy making sand sculptures… I wonder what his story was… he didn’t look like he originated from South Africa either…

Then we took a walk on the beach this evening, and I took my proper camera…

He did not want to look at me 🙂
