I was invited to attend the opening of the new Skin and Body Renewal Oasis spa in Illovo on Wednesday evening. It’s not the usual kind of spa… or rather let me say, not the kind of spa I normally go to. Skin and Body Renewal is an aesthetic centre. They do the usual facials and pedis etc, but they specialise in body shaping and skin renewal… all non-surgical.
Aesthetic Medicine is a developing clinical subspecialty and field in scientific research aimed at the use of minimally invasive cosmetic treatments to enhance patients’ satisfaction with their physical appearance.

It’s a beautiful place with chandeliers and lots of crystal, silver and glass… so girly
What I liked… every person sees a doctor before they undergo any kind of treatment. Every new beauty therapist in the business is trained in medical aesthetics before they can start.
I can’t really comment about the fillers and botox etc, ‘cos I’ve never looked into it
Anyway, as part of the launch they demo’ed a facial and someone having a filler injected into her lips! Didn’t do that, as I had to get home, but I did scare myself shitless by having my face scanned.
I took my sister along with me, and she had her face scanned at the same time… see pic
Anyhoo, you stick your face under a black-out fabric and they shine a light on your face, and you check out your scary skin in a mirror while the therapist talks you through all the damage you’ve done over the years.
***Sigh*** so, in a nut shell, my skin is severely dehydrated apart from my eyes, and I have extensive sun damage which is causing the pigmentation I saw. I’ve got hardly any dead skin though… glad to know the Dermalogica I’m using is working for something
I was given a prescription for a number of SkinCeuticals products, and thankfully I got a few samples sizes in a goodie bag with some of the serums to try out… and then I’ll decide whether I’m going to buy them…
Can you see that gold chair on the right of the photo? That’s where you have pedis… how beautiful is that?!
Disclaimer: Although I was invited to attend the event, I was not asked to blog about the company and the thoughts in this blog post are my own.
