We left for Cape Town on Monday morning, and thankfully had organised a stop-over in Beaufort West. We were all tired after the long night the night before, so driving straight through would have been crazy.

On that note, I LOVED the drive through the Karoo. I didn’t do much driving thankfully! LOL! We haven’t driven to Cape Town since BK (before kids), so it was lovely seeing the scenery. I appreciated the landscape so much more than I did the last time we drove down. I’m now dying to do a photo shoot in the area. Love the sparce-ness and the space.

It’s always dicey booking a place that you don’t know, but thankfully the reviews on Tripadvisor were spot on this time.

We stayed at a gorgeous little place in Beaufort West called Cape Karoo Guest House. It wasn’t easy to find something that was family friendly… and in fact for my friends that travel with dogs… this place is also dog-friendly. We stayed in the family suite, and I’d organised supper and breakfast there so that we didn’t have to mission into town to find a place that was open on a Monday night.

It was perfect. The meals were awesome… we had lamb chops for dinner with salad and potato wedges… and a great fry up for breakfast.

My mom would LOVE the garden… it was small but so beautiful. I loved all the wall features and pots filled with succulents.

And check out that amazing view from the deck! That deck is perfect for sundowners.

We’ll definitely recommend the place, and would be staying there again.
