What a disaster! Well, not quite… it’s not that bad, but I’m still not happy.

I finally finished doing Connor’s party invitations.  I really struggled to find triceratops pictures for it, this was the nicest I could find.  But I didn’t really look at the photo properly until I sent the invites out just now.

It’s violent man!! The triceratops are attacked a maiasaura and it’s nest!!  The mothers better not look too closely!

oh em gee… And to top it off, Angel just sent me an email to tell me that I spelt my street address wrong too!! Damnit!  I didn’t save the psd file for some unknown reason, so I’m going to have to start from scratch before I send it to his school friends.

I’ve been reading and watching all the bloggers around me bake cupcakes and other stuff for ages… and I’ve been far too lazy to even try.

Then last night we went to Madi‘s house for supper, and Pierre made marinaded fillet steak.  Our regular thing is that whichever family is the guest family brings the pudding.

I really really struggled to figure out what to make, then I had a brain wave… chocolate brownies!!

So, I actually made them.  I made the Jamie Oliver brownies after going and buying ALL the ingredients as I have NO baking ingredients in the house.  And it was yummy!! And so it should be with the 2 slabs of Lindt 70% chocolate and cocoa powder and all the sugar too!

I watched the celebrity local version of Survivor this evening.  It was the first in the series.

Now, I don’t normally watch it, in fact I don’t think I’ve ever watched the local version. But this time, I’m going to give it a bash because I actually know one of the contestants via Twitter and blogging!! Sandi aka Cybersass is in it (and she’s taking part in Project 365 too on another blog!).

On Twitter we knew she went away for a while to an unknown destination, and she was uncontactable for a while.  Then she reappeared without explanation, and eventually the news came out about where she’d been.

The thing that struck me tonight while I was watching it, and the reason behind this odd blog post is the following…

These people are used to being in the limelight.  They’re also used to putting on a persona and that’s what the general public see and know of them.

But, this is different.  This time, it’s about who they are.  It’s raw and it’s quite invasive.

It’s not the same as arb people just doing Survivor for the hell of it.

I probably should ask her this, but anyhoo, it’s going on my blog anyway… it must feel very strange to watch yourself on Survivor because there aren’t any scripts to hide behind… only your own words and actions.  Unless you’re a brick, and have no emotion at all, it must be quite nervy to now listen and read about what people are saying about this programme and about you.

One week back at school, and Connor is already sick!

I took him to the doc… tonsillitis yet again! So I’m going to make an appointment at the ENT tomorrow to see what to do next.

As for me… I’ve got it too… my throat is on fire, my ears are blocked and I’m light-headed! If it doesn’t go away soon, I’m also going to have to go to the doc.

I’m afraid that’s my sorry excuse for a blog post (apart from this cute photo of Connor that I took last week)… I’m not in the mood.

I mentioned a few days ago on my photoblog that I won a voucher for a web design from Judith Shakes Designs.  And I got it simply by doing the Weekly Winners on Lotus’ blog most weeks.

I had actually forgotten all about the challenge that Lotus set at the beginning of the year, so I was surprised when I won it

I’m absolutely thrilled about it because I’ve been eyeing out her gorgeous blog designs for years.  They are so very awesome!!

Anyhoo, the point of this ramble is the following… I’ve bought the layout for my photoblog and I’m loathe to change that now.  I think I’m going to get Tanya from Snapping Turtle to design a new photographic logo for me, so there’s not much there I can do.

I can however, use this opportunity to get a domain for this blog… finally!

The problem is figuring out what to call it.  I’m tired of Jentyrambling.  I like Jentyjuggles but that’s too close to Cat’s blog name. Or maybe stuffinmymind.com.  Or what about jentyincolour.com or jentyinreallife.com or reallifejenty.com or mylifeisreal.com (damn that one is taken!) or mylifeincolour.com or thelifeofjenty.com (ok, that’s too corny) or aliveandjenty.com

OK this is getting a little ridiculous now… this is really a ramble… think I need to remove the Jenty… I’ll think about it a little and you’ll see the change kthxbye

I have loads of guilty pleasures, the problem is picking only 5 for this meme that I’ve seen floating around some blogs lately. The reason for the meme is “to see if we are unique in what we find pleasurable, but feel guilty about indulging in.”

1.  Blogging here, right now… when I should be editing the umpteen photos I have still to do.

2.  Shopping for clothes.  I’ve got a retail problem.  To explain how big it is especially with the boys clothes… our cleaning lady went on leave for nearly 3 weeks and I didn’t have to iron one of Connor’s or Bradley’s t-shirts!! Not one!  And there was still quite a few they hadn’t worn by the time she came back.

3.  Chocolate.  We hide it from the kids and eat it at night when they’re a sleep.

4.  Milo.  Oh so fattening, but there’s nothing better in the afternoon at work when it’s cold or raining or I’m struggling to concentrate.  And the guys at the coffee bar downstairs make it so nicely.

5.  Tweeting on my phone while in boring meetings or waiting for someone or while stuck in massive traffic jams… need I say more.

Well, quite apt, considering it was Bradley’s first day in Grade 1 today.

Not that I can remember the day at all… and it looks like my mom only has a school photo from that year, and not from the first day.

The only thing I can remember from my early school days is Mrs Orsmond.  She was my favourite teacher, and used to read us stories while perched on the edge of her desk eating rose petals!
