I’ve had a very hectic work schedule lately. I’ve barely spent time with the kids in the evenings and mornings, let alone keeping in touch with friends!

In the last few weeks, a lot of my friends have also been going through a rough time.  I haven’t really been there for them, and this evening it hit me hard. I need to do something about that.

We got a phone call from an ex-neighbours daughter this evening to let us know that her mom had died.  That threw me.  She was always there for us when we lived in the complex.  She was a bit of a nosy person, but despite that, most of the complex loved her to bits.  I spent hours in her house while I was on maternity leave when Bradley was born.  She babysat Bradley once or twice.  She was the one everyone went to when they needed something.

Bradley used to love going to visit “Aunty Jill” when we lived there.

And you know what… despite always saying we were going to invite her and Paul over for a braai or something… we never did.   I saw her a few months ago when I was leaving a hospital after seeing a doctor.  that’s the last contact we had with her.  She’s never met Connor.

I know this is a bit of a ramble, but all I’m trying to say is… never leave contacting friends.  It may be too late by the time you get around to it.

RIP Jill, we’ll never forget you.
