Madelein phoned this morning, and all of a sudden we had plans (apart from the photoshoot I had this afternoon). I bundled the kids into the car, instead of going grocery shopping, and met her and the kids at Walter Sisulu gardens for a walk and a fun morning.

What an awesome time we had! We really need to do that more often!

Madelein’s aim was to try out the new outdoor gym they have in the park, and thankfully she knew where to go, because I wouldn’t have guessed where it was! It’s hidden away on the pathway going towards the bird hides. It’s awesome! There’s quite a few pieces of equipment, and I reckon you’d have quite a good workout if you used it properly. We tried all of them, and it was so cool explaining to Bradley how to use them properly… it’s the first time he’s used gym equipment and the first time he’s been big enough to get the full benefit… he did quite well! His favourite things were the ones which used your body weight to strengthen your shoulders, arms and chest.

Then it was time to head for the kids play area close to the waterfall. We were so very lucky while we were there too… one of the kids spotted a monkey sitting just behind the bench that Madelein and I were sitting on! I’ve never seen monkeys there!

And OMW the waterfall is magnificent at the moment! I don’t think I’ve ever seen it that full.

Then it was time to head for the ice cream van… but again we were in luck and Carmen spotted a tortoise!! It was happily munching on the flowers on a little pathway close to the main path. How awesome! Madelein was actually telling me when we got there that the tortoises in the area are now endangered and that they’re using dogs to track them in the gardens. I was thrilled that we actually got to see one.
