minecraft_logoYou know the boys are obsessed with Minecraft right? I’m sure I’ve blogged about it before.

If you don’t know what it is, I found this description on the Wikipedia page

The creative and building aspects of Minecraft allow players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, gathering resources, crafting, and combat. Gameplay in its commercial release has two principal modes: survival, which requires players to acquire resources and maintain their health and hunger; and creative, where players have an unlimited supply of resources, the ability to fly, and no health or hunger. A third gameplay mode named hardcore is the same as survival, differing only in difficulty; it is set to the most difficult setting and respawning is disabled, forcing players to delete their worlds upon death.

I’m not sure about the textured cubes thing… looks to me like big pixels 😉 I find the game most bizarre, but love that it gets the kids to think spacially and to design and build things.

We have iPad, iPhone and the Samsung phones set up with the games… as well as the Minecraft Xbox game because apparently that’s different 😉 . My cousin sent Connor a Minecraft T-shirt from the US which is his pride and joy, and he eyes out the Minecraft range of toys in the toy shops every time we walk in!

On Facebook this morning, I read someone’s status talking about her boys obsession, and that she’d found a Youtube channel with Minecraft videos that they’re now addicted to as well. I can’t remember who my FB friend was though, that spoke about it, or else I’d credit her for this!! LOL!

So, this evening, in an attempt to be a cool mom, I told the boys about it and went hunting. Turns out, the channel is so popular that it’s really really easy to find! Just see how many views his videos have had!

And that was that… Connor’s entertainment was sorted for the evening! It’s the most arb channel ever… 2 guys walking you through their Minecraft worlds and occasionally building something.

Not sure I should have shown him now. LOL!

You know what blew my mind, Stampylonghead‘s channel on Youtube has over 2 million subscribers!
